Tom Zeni is a distinguished scholar and legal practitioner based in Morgantown, West Virginia. With a rich educational background and diverse skills, he stands at the intersection of academia, law, and business.
Education
Dr. Zeni holds a Juris Doctor from West Virginia University, focusing on Employment & Labor Law. He earned numerous accolades during his legal studies, including CALI Awards and pro bono and community service awards.
Additionally, Tom has a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Organizational Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. His doctoral research delved into “Ethical Decision Making by Business Leaders,” exploring the impact of cognitive biases and strategies. His multidisciplinary approach enriches his perspective in both academia and law.
Complementing his legal and psychology degrees, Tom holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science in Industrial Organizational Psychology. His education is a testament to his commitment to lifelong learning and a broad knowledge base.
Legal Experience
As the Principal of Zeni Law, PLLC in Morgantown, Tom provides invaluable legal services to small- and medium-sized businesses. His work extends to individuals with employment law concerns, personal estate planning, and assistance with personal and small business bankruptcies.
Previously, Tom worked as a Legal Analyst for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He also served in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Legal Clinic at West Virginia University College of Law, working with business startup and nonprofit clients.

Dr. Zeni’s contributions extend to academia, where he is a Teaching Associate Professor of Management & Labor Relations. He is a respected educator with a track record of facilitating learning in various undergraduate and graduate courses. His published research articles, management consulting, and involvement in university governance reflect his commitment to academic excellence.
Additionally, Tom had a successful tenure as the Program Coordinator for the Master of Science in Industrial Relations & Human Resource Management degree program, where he achieved remarkable milestones in fundraising, enrollment growth, and student placement rates.
Licensures and Certifications
Dr. Zeni is licensed to practice law in the State of West Virginia and the U.S. District Court Southern District of West Virginia. He is also a Notary Public in the state. His professional certifications include being a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
